I enjoyed the story about the plans for a cat cafe in Dubai (A look at Ailuromania Cafe, February 12).
I had never previously heard of such a thing but it’s a great idea. I will certainly come to Dubai when the cafe opens, just to have the experience of visiting it.
Christie Eckardt, Abu Dhabi
They have cafes like this in Japan and my children love them.
It would be awesome if they partnered with a local rescue charity and showcased cats that are available for adoption.

Majority must not be blamed
In her opinion article It's a very bad idea to label someone's belief system (February 12), Rym Ghazal says "ISIL is about as Muslim as the Ku Klux Klan can be seen to be Christian".
What would be the response to the KKK undertaking the same actions as ISIL today? Would it be the same reaction as we have to ISIL? I think it would.
I am sure that many people would feel some degree of shame for the actions of their countrymen. But I’m not sure that any educated person would smear a religious group on account of the actions of a minority.

Reducing waste is not just about food
Food wastage a growing concern for UAE (February 10) caught my attention.
I believe we should make an effort to get this food to those who need it.
There are also many other areas of waste. I know of luxury hotels that replace the toilet paper rolls in guest rooms even if only one sheet was used.
I have been told that the old rolls are thrown away, but surely they could still be used or at least, given to charities.
They are many ways to reduce waste. It's a worldwide problem that needs to be addressed. Barbara Radwan-Wiehe, US
I view food wastage as one of the growing pains of the transition to a fully developed country.
It will take time to fix this problem, but we must accept that we cannot save every biscuit, every apple. It’s just not humanly possible.
Saif Omar Al Suwaidi, Canada
Please do not present this as a cultural or UAE-only problem.
It’s an issue to do with human behaviour and happens in most wealthy countries.
Eiman Al Zaabi, Abu Dhabi
I agree with the concerns raised, but just try to get a half-portion at a Dubai restaurant, even if you are willing to pay the full price. It is very difficult.

Quest fails the shouting test
I was interested to read Frank Kane's report about the Government Summit held this week (Dubai cannot be denied happiness, February 11).
But I am no fan of the host of the forum, CNN business reporter Richard Quest. I call him “Mr Shouter”.
I prefer the phenomenal Christiane Amanpour. She is brilliant and she knows what she is talking about.

Call for more Mers screening
I refer to Abu Dhabi man dies after contracting Mers coronavirus (February 12).
This is very sad news and a serious cause for concern.
I hope the health authorities screen anyone who may have come in contact with the deceased.

Many reasons for road accidents
I disagree with the conclusion in Ayesha Almazroui's column, There may be another reason for the UAE's bad driving (February 9), which suggests that ADHD is a factor in road accidents.
Shocking road craftsmanship stems from poor driving instruction.
This leads to such behaviour as speeding dangerously; driving down the hard shoulder to get around traffic; pushing in traffic queues; talking on hand-held mobile phones; allowing children to jump around unrestrained; and changing lanes erratically without signalling.
