Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has launched a cutting-edge warship to boost the country's defences.
The Al Emarat P111 corvette was inducted into the UAE Navy at a ceremony attended by Sheikh Hamdan, Dubai Government Media Office reported on Friday morning.
“The vessel reflects the Navy’s commitment to strengthening its defence operations and securing the nation’s waters,” he said in a post on social media platform X.
“I also commend all national efforts that contributed to its design and development and remain committed to investing in cutting-edge military technologies.”
Sheikh Hamdan said “the launch of the advanced warship reflects the UAE Navy's commitment to enhancing its defensive capabilities and strengthening its ability to protect the nation and its strategic interests”, reported the media office.
Investing in cutting-edge military technologies strengthens the UAE’s defence sector, helping it compete globally, and enhances the Armed Forces' capability to perform their tasks with optimal efficiency at all times, said Sheikh Hamdan.
The warship is equipped with panoramic sensors and an advanced security intelligence unit designed for data collection and processing. Its sensor systems include radars, electro-optical devices, an electronic warfare suite and communication antennae, as well as specialised weather monitoring systems.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of “sustained efforts to promote innovation and develop national expertise”.
