President Sheikh Mohamed said the establishment of a Ministry of Family reflects the importance given to traditional values in the Emirates as Sana Suhail took the constitutional oath to serve as the inaugural minister of the new department.
Sana Suhail took the oath in front of the President, as well as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
During the ceremony at Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al Watan, Sheikh Mohamed congratulated Ms Suhail on her new position and wished her success in fulfilling her responsibilities, state news agency Wam reported.
He said the creation of the Ministry of Family reflects the UAE’s deep commitment to family stability and its role in the comprehensive development strategy and vision for the future.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of family-related matters in the government’s agenda.
Speaking about Ms Suhail’s appointment while announcing the creation of the new department on Sunday, Sheikh Mohammed said: “She has previously worked in sectors related to early childhood, family, supporting people of determination and more across her career in the UAE government.
“Family is a national priority. It is the cornerstone of our future and the nation’s future. The UAE President stressed previously at recent annual meetings the importance of working on comprehensive national programmes to increase the formation of families in the country, enable its growth, empower it, ensure its cohesion and stability and improve fertility rates.”
