A remote spot in the Tunisian desert has become a must-see for fans of the 'Star Wars' films. All photos by AFP
The fictional Mos Espa spaceport, seen in Episodes I, II, and III, was built at Ong Jemel, between two salt lakes north of the south-western Nefta oasis.
Anakin Skywalker's home is on a remote planet called Tatooine — a nod to the nearby Tunisian town of Tataouine.
The buildings seen in the films are still standing, although the set is gradually being reclaimed by the desert.
In the films, 'moisture vaporators' are used to harvest water from the atmosphere to sustain the city's dwellers.
The set is more remote than other 'Star Wars' locations, but still easy o reach by travelling north by road from the town of Naftah.
