The internationally renowned obstacle challenge Tough Mudder is coming to Dubai this December and early bird registration is now open.
The hardcore adventure race, which has been held in 10 countries, including the United States, Australia, China, Mexico and more for the past six years, involves participants battling a series of obstacles such as an icy water plunge and a sprint through dangling electrical wires. It is an untimed, team-orientated challenge designed to motivate participants and push them past their comfort zone.
The event, which is scheduled for December 9-10, is the first in the Middle East. Customers of sponsor du can register from today at www.toughmudder.ae, while registration for all other participants opens on Wednesday, July 20.
The team challenge will take place in the grounds of the Hamdan Sports Complex and includes a 16km course with more than 20 obstacles, and an 8km Tough Mudder Half, with 14 obstacles. There will also be a challenge for children ages 7-13, the Mini Mudder, which will be a 1.5km mud run.
Greg Sproule, managing director of IMG Middle East, the company bringing the event to the UAE in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council and in partnership with du, said: “Tough Mudder events have united millions of active, fun-seeking individuals, and with its challenging obstacles and unique team-focused ethos, camaraderie and thrills, we have no doubt that the du Tough Mudder will provide a memorable experience for participants.”
Tough Mudder arrives in the UAE on the back of several popular obstacle challenges, including the Reebok Spartan Race, Talise Sandstorm, Wadi Adventure Race, Desert Warrior Challenge and The Sandpit Run.
Early bird tickets cost Dh350 for the Tough Mudder, Dh225 for the Tough Mudder Half and Dh50 for the Mini Mudder, and include entry, T-shirt, headband and post-race refreshment.
