Thank you for participating in The National's #startwalking challenge.

To make your experience a smooth one, we would like to share some frequently asked questions:

Q: I just bought a fitness tracker device. How do I join the challenge?

A: Before you can register for the challenge, you need to follow the set-up instructions that come with the device and register it with the device’s app. Once you are able to sync your steps, you will use your login and password to also register the device in the #startwalking challenge.

What do I do if I think I have walked more steps than what is showing on the rankings?

The #startwalking challenge pulls the data from your device’s provider. It can only see what you see. If you haven’t synced, we won’t know you have more steps. So if you don’t have your device set up with Bluetooth to automatically update, please make sure to sync regularly. No syncing means no steps showing on the challenge.

I sync my device and see I’ve added steps on my fitness-tracker app, but when I click refresh on my website dashboard, it’s not updated. Why?

Don’t fret! Your steps have been successfully counted (on the app) but it takes approximately 60 minutes for the website server to update. Please give it some time and check back later.

I usually manually sync my device at 7pm each day when I get home. But I am still doing steps throughout the evening before I go to bed. Will these steps get counted?

Most definitely. The Jawbone app keeps track of when you take your steps, so if you next sync your device the following day at 7pm it will add the extra steps you had taken the previous day from 7pm to midnight and credit it to the correct day.
