Air Arabia has announced it will begin resuming flights to Qatar's capital city of Doha from January 18.

The low-cost airline, which serves the Middle East and North Africa, will operate flights from Sharjah International Airport starting on Monday.

The flights will operate daily via an Airbus A320, departing Sharjah at 4.10pm. Return flights will depart from Doha at 5.10pm local time.

Air Arabia is offering all passengers free Covid-19 insurance coverage, and has introduced a number of new measures to ensure health and safety protocols are followed at "every step of the journey".

The news of the resumption of the Sharjah-Doha route follows the UAE reopening air, land and sea borders with Qatar on Saturday, January 9, after the signing of the Al Ula Statement on January 5 at the GCC summit in Saudi Arabia.

Qatar recently became the 17th country to be added to Abu Dhabi's travel "green list", meaning travellers are able to visit the country without the need to go into quarantine on their return to the UAE capital.
