Jo Malone's global general manager shares his style favourites.

Some would say that Dominic De Vetta has a job that was made for him; he's a very British man representing a very British brand. As global general manager of Jo Malone, he enjoys the excitement of heading a company that sends most women into a reverie of cream boxes with black edging and original fresh scents. After graduating from Oxford University, where he studied English and French literature, he spent 20 years in the luxury lifestyle sector, including senior roles at Chanel in the US and the UK. He joined Jo Malone in 2008 as he was a fan of home-grown unique British craftsmanship. "We truly believe that buying fragrance should be precious and special," says De Vetta. "Our fragrances are bespoke, because you can customise them by combining and layering two or three scents together, to create your own signature perfume that's uniquely yours." Jo Malone bath, body and home products are sold around the world, including in two shops in the UAE. Based in London, De Vetta lives with his Yorkie-poo puppy (a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier and a poodle) named Teddy but travels widely. He talks to Jemma Nicholls about his sense of style and favourite things.

MY CAREER HIGHLIGHT IS... when I took the call from Jo Malone asking me to take over from Jo who was retiring. I was living in New York at the time, enjoying my job with Chanel but I was a huge fan of the Jo Malone brand and I was convinced it could be the next best luxury company. MY LIFE MOTTO IS... joy is a choice so seize every moment. THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN IS... kindness is one of the most underrated virtues. My grandmother told me this when I was 15 years old and I didn't think anything of it. As the years go by I think it is the truest thing I've ever heard. MY GUILTIEST PLEASURE IS... a good cup of coffee or macaroni and cheese. SIX WORDS TO DESCRIBE ME ARE... loyal, kind, creative, steady, good friend.
