UAE National Day 2020: Celebrate in style with jewels crafted in the colours of the flag

Few of us need an excuse to invest in quality jewellery and, with leading houses bringing out new and beautiful pieces to celebrate National Day, now may be the perfect time to go shopping.

With jewellers taking cues from the rich hues of UAE's flag, expect black diamonds, rich rubies, intense emeralds and brilliant-cut white diamonds, set in either white, rose or yellow gold.

MKS 

The jewellery label is the brainchild of Sheikha Mariam bint Khalifa bin Saif Al Nahyan, who is the granddaughter of the UAE’s President Sheikh Khalifaand, as such, will always show strong affiliation with the region. For this National Day, the brand has transformed the Emirati passport into a pendant.

Aquae Jewels

Aquae Jewels is another home-grown jewellery house, housed in Dubai. For National Day, it offers a gold bracelet set with a princess-cut ruby, and a set of white diamond earrings made as chains.

O Jewellery

This Abu Dhabi brand creates pieces that combine modern simplicity with the rich history of the region, resulting in charming keepsakes.

Nina Runsdorf

Further afield, the American designer Nina Runsdorf fell in love with the UAE on her first visit a year ago, and is now marking National Day with a collection in emerald green.

Faberge

Faberge, which once made priceless gems for Russian tsars, is turning its expertise towards the Emirates, with a pendant egg encrusted with tiny emeralds, pink sapphires, and white and black diamonds.
