There has been a lot of buzz around the La Mer since it opened off the Beach Road in Jumeirah in October. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you should. As The National photographer Antonie Robertson found, there are more than 130 food and retail outlets, as well as sports and entertainment facilities across three distinct areas – La Mer North, La Mer South and Laguna – all of which are fringed by nearly 2.5 kilometres of beach.

Apart from the play areas for kids and the family-friendly attractions such as the Hawa Hawa inflatable playground, Little World discovery centre and the newly opened Laguna Waterpark, visitors can enjoy sea-themed decor with plenty of Instagrammable angles among the modern architecture and art, including street art by American artist Tom Bob, who creates colourful art on everyday objects in urban surroundings. Shoppers will enjoy the designer boutiques and lifestyle brands, along with the eclectic array of cafes and restaurants that offer a variety of cuisines for a meal or a light snack.

This weekend is a great time to head to La Mer as it is hosting a football-themed fan fest from 5pm to 11pm. La Mer is open from 10am to midnight, visit www.lamerdubai.ae
