Kim Kardashian is not just going to be making milkshakes when she and her mother, Kris Jenner, come to the UAE next week.
There were rumours that the American reality star might make a red carpet appearance at one of the premieres during the 10-day Abu Dhabi Film Festival, which kicks off October 13, although organisers would not confirm. Kardashian tweeted recently that the Middle East trip included an Abu Dhabi leg.
And she confirmed today that she will be scoping out Dubai for a possible fourth outpost of her and her sisters' clothing store Dash (in addition to outlets in Los Angeles, Miami and New York).
"I’m a business woman, at the end of the day. I just want to get out and see what it’s all about," she said in a press release. "My sisters and I get asked all the time to open up a Dash store in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. I think it’s just really important for me to see what it’s like first. I don’t want to dive in too soon. I’d like to spend more time in Dubai and I [will] hopefully set up a store there soon."
Kardashian's mother Kris raised the possibility of forays in the local fashion industry, a nightclub venture or real estate purchase.
Officially, the pair has been brought over by Kardashian's pal Sheeraz Hasan, creator of Sheeraz Inc and Hollywood.TV, to open a branch of the US shop Millions of Milkshakes in the Dubai Mall in an event scheduled for October 14. Millions of Milkshakes is being launched for the first time outside of the US in partnership with Emirates Hospitality.
“When someone says Dubai, I think of this glamorous place," said Kardashian. "I think about the fashion, about food. I think about the culture over there – [it] is something that I’m so not used to, I just want to embrace it. When I was first invited to Dubai, I was so excited because it’s a place I’ve just always wanted to go."
While she appears for fans and scopes out the emirates, Kardashian will be followed by cameras from her own reality show, Keeping up With the Kardashians. It is one of four Kardashian-related reality shows shown in the UAE on the E! network through OSN.
