  • 9 South African style. Cape Town is World Design Capital 2014, and Southern Guild returns to Design Days for the third time to fly the flag for collectable South African contemporary design. Founded in 2008, Southern Guild was established to “provoke” and encourage local designers and artists to explore and produce “more challenging and important work”. With Kassena Server (pictured) by the Johannesburg-based husband and wife design team Dokter and Misses, the gallery appears to be doing just that. Courtesy of Southern Guild

A glade of cherry trees made entirely from polypropylene pipe, Price’s installation is a meditation on our understanding and acceptance of beauty. Courtesy of Tom Price
