When the British interior designer Jane Hornsby was met with an overwhelming demand for her bespoke soft furnishings, she opened a small online shop to sell her creations to the wider market.
That was five years ago, and now Jane specialises in designing and making elegant cushion covers in luxurious fabrics: silk, satin, velvet, wool and linen. Her wool cushions mostly channel the trend for all things patriotic: flag-patterned cushions featuring the Stars and Stripes, the Union Jack, the Maple Leaf and city-inspired motifs such as the Statue of Liberty. I also like her Black Flower Silhouette cushions; they conjure up memories of English summer strolls.
Folk-style pom-pom trims are another big trend right now, and several of Jane's newer designs feature this fun edging detail without crossing the line from chic to twee. For a rustic, country touch, have a look at her small selection of handmade leather heart decorations. Filled with sweet-scented lavender or calming camomile and backed with natural linen, they'd look lovely hanging on a door handle with a length of hessian twine.
Although they're probably much too big to ship, the upholstered chairs are also worth admiring before you log off. Covered in plush velvet, these curvaceous throne-like show-stoppers have distressed wooden frames - perfect for a girlie bedroom.
