The concept
The Laughter Factory have long been renowned as regional comedy trailblazers, bringing A-list stand-up stars to our shores for 20 years and counting. All new for 2016, however, is a sidestep into the culinary arena. In a piece of proof that convenience really is king, at select venues The Laughter Factory now offers an all-inclusive brunch-style package for two hours before the show. That’s right — food, laughs and merriment, in one place and one price. Fully aware it sounded too good to be true, we booked a table at the Grand Millennium Dubai.
The atmosphere
The “comedy brunch” package is hosted in the TECOM hotel’s stylish pan-Asian eatery Toshi, a chic but understated space perched on the 18th floor, with dynamic vistas out on twinkling cityscape. Any fears that the place would be rammed with rowdy comedy fans were thankfully dispelled, with the restaurant’s large size and formal vibe ideal for an intimate pre-comedy date or dinner with friends alike. Ask for a table by the window for the best views.
The food
Under these circumstances, you might not expect the food to shine all that bright — but thankfully, it’s blinding. As a Laughter Factory bruncher you’re getting exactly the same offerings as the restaurant’s regular theme night (at a bargain price, with the full package costing Dh195-345 for four hours). Start at the sushi table and move on to the wide appetiser, dim sum and satay selection. Particularly impressive is the live noodle and soup station, with seemingly endless options to choose between. The buffet mains cover a wide geographic swathe across Asia, and are a clear cut above the generic buffet fare found elsewhere. And with just two hours to munch your way around the room, before the show kicks off upstairs at 9pm, be sure to allow adequate time for the extensive dessert selection.
Who’s it best for?
Comedy fans, clearly — but the combination of fine food with world class stand-up talent should widen the appeal of this top night out to anyone with a pulse.

A smart and convenient complete package from a bona fide UAE institution which continues to lead the pack.
