There are still a few spots available for the kids’ cookery class at Villa Toscana today. Held from 4pm to 6pm, the class is geared for kids ages 5 to 12.
I took my 6-year-old daughter to yesterday’s class. Instead of just decorating pizzas with toppings (as is the case in many kids’ cookery classes), the chefs at Villa Toscana taught the kids how to make their own pizza dough — mixing flour and eggs with their hands. The kids also had the chance to see homemade pasta coming out of a pasta machine. They then cut ravioli shapes out of that same pasta and built and folded their own raviolis. Even I haven’t made my own pasta before, so it was quite a thrill to have my daughter learn how to do this at such a young age. The kids also assembled a strawberry custard tart for dessert.
The class was led by executive chef Stefano Viola and his team. Parents were served complimentary canapés and beverages during the class — and kids ate what they made at the end. The class is Dh200 per child, which includes small bites and beverages for one adult. It’s an additional Dh100 per child or per adult.
