If you love pancakes, there really is no dearth of varieties to try in the UAE. From decadent brownie hybrids to healthy, gluten-free treats, restaurants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have taken the breakfast staple to the next level.

These blueberry rice pancakes are just one option from the Abu Dhabi cafe's vegan menu. Incredibly moreish and fluffy, you get a stack of four large pancakes topped with tangy wild berry sauce and served with a jug of maple syrup and a pot of vegan cream. Clinton Street Baking Company's February pancake range

The New York institution is known for its pancakes, and its Dubai branches have a separate pancake menu, available throughout the month of February. Cocoa lovers can try the German chocolate or the raspberry chocolate varieties, whereas the blueberry streusel, cherry cobbler and apple pie are also favourites.

Cocoa Room’s red velvet pancakes 

For overly decadent stacks that will do as well as dessert as they will for breakfast, check out Cocoa Room in Dubai. You can keep it classic by ordering the buttermilk (with salted caramel, fresh berries or Nutella) or go all out with the Oreo midnight, a dreamy concoction with chocolate fudge and chocolate ice cream. Another dish that's as easy on the eyes as it is the taste buds is the red velvet pancakes, with cheese frosting, muffin crumble and chocolate – a sure-fire winner.

Eggspectation’s sausage pancake

Eggspectation in Dubai remains a favourite for a hearty morning meal. Three flapjacks with sausages, beef bacon, potatoes and a sunny side-up egg may just be the perfect way to start the day.

The Thai restaurant in Dubai is celebrating Pancake Day with a limited-edition stack, available on Tuesday only. Giving the much-loved breakfast a Thai twist, the coconut pancakes will be sprinkled with coconut flakes and accompanied by a pandan custard.

Keki bakery’s Japanese pancakes

The Japanese bakery and speciality coffee shop in Abu Dhabi serves up fluffy pancakes with just the right amount of jiggle. But those looking for a pancake that's more dessert than breakfast can go for the salted caramel, tiramisu or strawberry pancakes.

Parker’s chocolate chip pancakes 

It's a signature dish from the home-grown restaurant known for its Instagrammable fare. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savoury, Pancake House in both emirates does it all.
