Do you love baking?
The Love Food Festival is hosting a cake-decorating competition with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. There is a category for ages 18 and up as well as a youth category for ages 12 to 18 years.
To enter, just send your name, your age and a picture of your cake (inspired by the festival’s Cake The World theme) to info@lovefoodfestival.ae.
The Cake The World theme celebrates different cultures and diversity in the world. It’s just a guide intended to inspire, say festival organisers, and is not a required criteria for entry.
Judging will be based on originality and creativity of design; overall visual impact; skills and execution of technique; number of skills used and level of difficulty; and interpretation of the brief.
Judges will study all photographs and come up with a shortlist. If you’re cake is shortlisted, you will be asked to bring your cake to the Love Food Festival where it will be on display and judged. Judges include international baking star Eric Lanlard, also known as Cake Boy; English chef Rosemary Shrager; and instructors from Wilton.
Shortlisted cakes for Al Ain will need to be brought to the festival on Thursday, February 11 between 10am and 4pm. Shortlisted cakes for Abu Dhabi will need to be brought to the festival on Thursday, February 18 between 10am and 4pm. The cakes will stay on display throughout the respective weekends. Bonus: you and a guess will receive free entry to the festival if your cake gets shortlisted.
The first place winner (for each location) will be awarded a Dh2,500 voucher for; second place is a Dh1,000 voucher; and third place will receive a Dh500 voucher. Youth category first place winners will win a Wilton workshop and a Wilton gift hamper, while second and third places will be awarded a Wilton gift hamper.
