German Doner Kebab has just added the Turkish street food lahmacun to its menu. Lahmacun, also called Turkish pizza, is loved by young and old alike. The ultra-thin crust pizza is topped with minced meat (either veal or chicken), onions, tomatoes, parsley and herbs. For just Dh15, you can get an authentic taste of this beloved Turkish street food right here in the UAE. German Doner Kebab has nine stores throughout the UAE with plans for many more. Tom & Serg in Dubai has a tasty new burger on the new menu. The carnivorous creation comes on a house-made bun baked with egg and is topped with creamy jack cheese and T&S's very own house burger sauce (which includes puréed gherkins). In other Tom & Serg news, you can now book private parties at the cafe after hours. The downstairs area can hold up to 150 people standing or 90 seated. Mahiki Dubai in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel has just launched a new Island Grill menu. Nibbles in the lounge include soy and chilli edamame and “Big Fat Greek” olives. Heartier fare includes fish finger sandwiches, Wagyu sliders served with truffle mayonnaise and a Canadian lobster roll with chervil and celery dressing. Lobster rolls! Starting September 27, cooking enthusiasts can book a cooking class with Chef Edi, the head chef at Soul Restaurant at the Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach. From 4pm to 6pm, Chef Edi will teach a maximum of six people per class how to cook a main course and dessert. Each participant will get an apron and recipe cards during the class. Soul Restaurant is a New York-style brasserie restaurant that focuses on fresh seafood, shellfish and steaks. At the end of each class, participants will be able to dine on the food prepared by Chef Edi. Cost for the class is Dh200 per person and will be held once a month.
