While Jackie Chan may be most famous around the world for his popular blend of Kung Fu stunts and slapstick humour, to noodle fans in Korea (and Hawaii until the Honolulu branch closed in 2007). he’s also known for his Jackie’s Kitchen chain of noodle restaurants.
This came as something of a surprise to us, so we thought we’d seek out his kindred spirit here in the UAE - Taufik Sutisna, brand executive chef at the popular noodle chain The Noodle House, and find out what he’d be cooking up for the martial arts master if he drops in while shooting Kung Fu Yoga in Dubai.
Sutisna told us “I’m a huge fan of Jackie Chan and would love to cook for him at Noodle House… this is what I would prepare for the martial arts legend…
Starter: Dim Sum – Prawn Har Gau & Chick Siew Mai: They are the national dish of Hong Kong, where Jackie Chan is from and at Noodle House we would want him to feel at home.
Main: Shanghai Beef Noodles: Because of Shanghai Knights, which is my favourite Jackie Chan comedy movie with Owen Wilson.
Dessert: Molten Chocolate Tart – I saw an very cool youtube video of Jackie Chan filming his huge Chinese movie CZ12 on a live volcano and I know that Chan earned two Guinness World Records with this film for Most Stunts Performed by a Living Actor and Most Credits in One Movie - so we would enjoy Molten (lava) Chocolate Tart as a celebration."
