As the summer is well and truly upon us, what better way to cool down than a light refreshing meal that fills you up to the rafters?

This week, we sampled the all day dim sum summer brunch at Royal China in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and give it a thumbs up.

From steamed spinach and crystal prawn parcels to the barbecue chicken bun, there was something for all taste buds. Also, because they are prepared and served on bamboo leaves no cooking oils are needed. So, we could eat to our heart’s content.

As recommended by our lovely waitress, we also tried the cheung feung, steamed rice noodle rolls enveloping chicken and prawn and served with tasty asparagus. Gluten-free, fat-free and guilt free it was the perfect accompaniment to our dim-sum delights.

I have to admit, we ruined the health kick with a dreamy dessert of toffee-fried banana with vanilla ice-cream, but we came away feeling refreshed and replete. Next time, I might just wash it down with a cup of green tea so I can keep the conscience clear.

* Royal China DIFC is open daily from 11:30am – 11:30pm and for a special weekend brunch of Friday and Saturday, 12-4pm. For booking queries call 04 3545543
