Ceviche, a new Peruvian restaurant, opened its doors this week in DIFC.
The restaurant is the latest in a string of Peruvian restaurants to open in the emirate, behind Coya, Garden, Mayta and Inka to name a few. Ceviche’s menu is filled with traditional Peruvian dishes curated by Lima-born sous chef and founder Percy Cubas and head chef Gonzalo Alberto.
Along with the menu’s ceviche selection, you’ll get dishes such as aji de gallina (chicken in a creamy yellow chilli sauce); anticuchos (marinated, grilled beef hearts); causa limena (chilled mashed potatoes with seafood, chicken or veggies); seco de cordero (braised lamb chops with canario beans; and tacu-tacu (rice and beans with seafood on top).
Ceviche promises to bring something new to the Peruvian food scene in Dubai. Alberto says, “We want to offer our customers the closest culinary experience to authentic Peruvian flavours using modern presentations and techniques, but without losing the soul of Peruvian cuisine.
“There has been an exponential growth of Peruvian restaurants in Dubai, clearly showing how much people of this city love the cuisine. Back in Peru, true Peruvian food comes from streets — from small corner places, tiny shops and hidden places — places known as ‘Huariques’ back home and this is where the soul and heart of Peruvian food lies.
“Ceviche tries to bring this to Dubai and be the first of its kind in the UAE, as we believe its an untapped market. We combine ‘Street Huarique Style’ with contemporary culinary techniques.”
