Cafe Bateel has launched an afternoon tea at select cafes in the UAE. Bateel has also expanded its tea selection to include tea from the Makaibari Tea Estate in India, which is home to the world’s first tea factory.

Makaibari is the estate behind Silver Tips Imperial, one of the most expensive tea varieties in the world, which Bateel has brought to the Middle East for the first time. Silver Tips Imperial tea is a Darjeeling oolong tea that is hand-picked under moonlight just a few times a year.

General manager Tina Memic says: “We are always looking to bring exciting new gourmet experiences to delight our customers. Expanding our tea range is a natural next step for us and the Makaibari Tea Estate is a perfect pairing.

It is a brand with an exceptional heritage and something brand new to the Middle East. These teas really are some of the finest in the world; organic, bio-dynamically farmed, hand-picked with utmost care and fair trade certified. We are very excited to offer these to our customers — both through our Boutiques and for enjoying over afternoon tea in our cafes with friends and family.”

The newly launched afternoon tea offers guests a choice of tea blend along with bites such as baba ganoush toast, smoked salmon finger sandwiches, Khidri date opera cake, traditional English fruitcake, scones, preserves and clotted cream. The afternoon tea is available in the Arabian Ranches, JBR The Walk and DIFC locations for Dh98 per person. For more, visit bateel.com/cafe-bateel.
