Asia de Cuba will launch an outlet in Bahrain this month. The restaurant, which has branches in Abu Dhabi, New York and London, is known for its innovative Chino-Latino cuisine.

Asia De Cuba’s Cuban executive chef Luis Pous has designed the brand’s menu drawing on traditional Cuban ingredients and flavours.

There’s a range of ceviches on the menu such as red snapper with Thai chilli, red onion, fresh coriander and plantains and tuna ceviche with seared foie gras, orange, Asian pear and malanga chips. Pous puts an Asian twist on ropa vieja — a traditional Cuban dish — with the restaurant’s ropa vieja springs rolls with rocoto sweet and sour sauce.

Notable mains include the Chino Latino, a mix of mojo roasted lamb, jasmine rice, bean sprouts, egg and edamame; mojo duck confit with brown rice, orange, poached egg, Thai basil and chilli; and chilli-rubbed scallops with black rice, black beans, roasted cauliflower and Japanese aioli.

Asia de Cuba Bahrain will open in the trendy new complex Pavilion 21. The restaurant will have a living tropical wall and palm trees as well as life-size bronze statues and art deco finishings. A mezzanine balcony that overlooks the restaurant will host live music and DJs. The restaurant will be open daily from noon.
