With the Hollywood Film Awards in the bag (see that red carpet here), the People's Choice Awards is the second major event of Awards Season.

Next up is the Independent Spirit Awards (November 16), the Golden Globes (Dec 6) and the Critics Choice Awards (Jan 13). Awards season then culminates with the Oscars on Sunday, February 24 next year.

A Kardashians moment at the awards

The Kardashian clan also made an appearance on stage at the awards (although they didn't trot down the red carpet). Kim Kardashian, wearing vintage Jean Paul Gaultier, dedicated the family's award - for best Reality Show - to the firefighters currently battling the blazes in California and the first responders who acted after the deadly shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill.

"It's been a really rough week," she said at the start of her speech, mentioning the shooting and the "devastating fires that are currently burning".
