Cut into a wildly dramatic slash around her legs, the side train of white net stopped it looking too 1970s. The best bit? Because lamé is so unforgiving, it was clever to put pleats and folds into the fabric to keep it chic and not clingy

HIT Yara Shahidi, one of the stars of the spin-off show 'Grown-ish', showed us all how to wear masculine suiting when she arrived in a pale blue suit, tied with a simple sash, by Tory Burch. A faint pinstripe added to the feel, while the trousers tapered perfectly to the ankle at the ankle to sit over her Christian Louboutin nude heels

MISS Love her or hate her, but Ms Kardashian-West certainly knows how to dress for her shape, and although personally I am not a fan, even I have to admit that she does what she does pretty well. However, what inspired her to resurrect the disastrous corn-row look again will forever be a mystery. It was awful when she wore her hair like this in January, it was awful this time at MTV and, sadly, it will be awful the next time round as well. Kim, please just stop

MISS Actress Tessa Thompson went for a very Lisa Bonet circa 1990 appeal in this red look by Rosie Assoulin. I love the vivid colour on her, and that is was a separate skirt and cape with a daring tie in front, but without the colour co-ordination with co-star Stanfield, she looked swamped in it

HIT This is a tough dress to pull off, but 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' star Zendaya looks fantastic in this all-leather bell-skirted dress by August Getty. Her fashion choices are always bold (who can forget that that amazing butterfly dress by Moschino she wore for 'The Greatest Showman' premiere in Sydney?), and she has to be one of the best-dressed stars out there. Her same-tones shoes and slick hair makes her look like Tinkerbell with attitude. Wonderful

MISS Actress Ajiona Alexus. Oh dear. Alexus normally looks so fabulous, and certainly knows how to do head-to-toe colour, so I am at a loss why she picked this lopsided, see-through, cheap-looking monster. She deserves better

As the apparently endless round of award ceremonies continued last night in Santa Monica, with the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, (which actually took place on Saturday, but in some weird science were only aired last night) here we take a quick look at the fashion hits and misses.
