Is there anything Kaia Gerber can’t do? The 16-year old model - daughter of Cindy Crawford, one of the original supers of the 1990s - who has walked for the likes of Chanel, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Off-White, Miu Miu, Chloe and Saint Laurent, can now add another title to her CV: fashion designer. Gerber has teamed up with the creative head of Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld, to launch a joint fashion capsule line, simply called Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia. Released ready for the autumn/winter season, this neat collection of ready-to-wear and accessories is predominately black (as one would expect of Lagerfeld). The line segues from tidy body-con dresses with cut-away details, to slouchy oversized athleisure tops, with a belted faux-fur coat and maxi dress thrown in for good measure. Given this line is aimed at the teen market, most things have an easy-to-wear feel, such as jean-jackets and T-shirts cropped through high on the waist, and shirts and blazers that can double as dresses, all with a vaguely sporty air. Everything comes emblazoned with a hand-scrawled stylised "Karl x Kaia". Gerber herself models the pieces for the campaign, looking predictably amazing. In a nice touch, and presumably to prove that the model was hands-on with the design process, we get to see her sitting with the design team, looking at the final details, including zips as embellishment and extra-long branded webbing belts, or super-cute lurex over-the-knee socks. The range was launched on August 21, and it is a safe bet that with the combined pull of the fashion supremo and model-of-the-moment, the pieces will sell out fast. _________________________ Read more: __________________________
