Versace joined its fellow high-fashion labels Gucci and Armani, and announced that it will no longer use real furs in its products, starting from its 2019 collections. Designer Donatella Versace came to the realisation that she does not want to "kill animals to make fashion" on March 15, and the company said in a statement that "the decision is part of a broader plan that centres on Versace’s sustainable initiatives to embrace a more conscious and environment-savvy approach". On the same day, Italian brand Furla, best known for its high-end handbags, also revealed that it will stop using fur from its cruise 2019 collection. Go through the gallery above to know more about the other brands that have given up on fur in the past decade, following in the footsteps of designers such as Stella McCartney (below) who has always been fur-free, without compromising on quality.
