“Why go to the snow when you can bring the snow to you? Dubai is wild,” Will Smith posted on Instagram yesterday, alongside a video of him taking to the slopes of Ski Dubai.
Smith’s latest homage to Dubai begins in the Kempinksi Mall of the Emirates, where he shows off the view from his room, overlooking Ski Dubai’s wintry landscape.
The regular Dubai visitor changes into his ski gear and makes his way down to the snow. "They made a winter environment in the desert," he says. "It's freezing." He asks for some Christmas music to play as the soundtrack to his first run on the slopes, before requesting that his camera person switch to an external view of Dubai, to highlight the incongruity of skiing in the middle of the desert. Lm3allen by the controversial Moroccan popstar Saad Lamjarred breaks out in the background.
Smith appears to be relatively comfortable on the slopes – but, in a comedy moment at the end of the clip, once he’s back on flat land, he ends up walking straight into a railing.

This comes in the wake of Smith's announcement that he will be joining forces with Martin Lawrence for a third instalment of the Bad Boys movie. In a video of the video of the co-stars posted on Instagram over the weekend, Smith tells viewers: "It's official, baby! It's official! Bad Boys 3 is happening! It's official! It's official!" Lawrence adds: "It's official."
We're guessing it's official then.
