This limited-edition version of Bottega Veneta’s iconic Knot clutch is only available on special order. It was designed by Tomas Maier, Bottega Veneta’s creative director, who joined the brand in 2001.
The clutch takes between three and six months to produce. “Simple design is always complicated,” Maier has been reported as saying.
The clutch is made entirely of 18-carat yellow gold, which lends it a captivating iridescence. The intention is for it to feel like Bottega Veneta’s leather or silk intrecciato bags, but using gold – either yellow, white or rose – as the medium, instead.
The sides of the actual knot are embedded with diamonds, placed with the utmost precision, using a total of 74 stones, making the clutch a cross between high jewellery and functional fashion.
For those looking to make the piece even more unique, it can be fully personalised with your initials (or your name) engraved on a metal plaque on the inside. This service is available through Bottega Veneta’s customisation programme.
Italy is known for both its excellent leather and gold craftsmanship. This clutch combines the best of both, and is made entirely by hand in Italy, by the most skilled specialists in the field.
