A first look at Elie Saab's new furniture collection - in pictures

The famed Lebanese fashion designer has unveiled his first line of accessories for the home

Red-carpet favourite Elie Saab has unveiled his first furniture line.

Recognised as the godfather of Lebanese fashion, Saab is famed for his sumptuous, ultra-feminine haute couture gowns, and is now applying his aesthetic to home accessories.

“Broadening the scope of our product offering has been our strategy for the past few years. We are working towards an architectural and lifestyle expression that translates my style of living through the development of real estate projects and the creation of furniture and home collections to complement this vision,” says Saab.

The designer’s debut furniture line is manufactured in Italy and will initially be available in Milan, Beirut and Dubai, where Elie Saab Maison showrooms are expected to open before the end of the year.

The aim is to cater to hospitality and hotel projects, as well as private residences. Saab has already partnered with Emaar Beachfront in Dubai to create the Grand Blue Tower Interiors by Elie Saab, where apartments and common areas in the building are furnished with the objects from this new collection.

Italian architect and designer Carlo Colombo helped translate Saab’s vision into furniture. "The collection came to life after some time spent in the company with Elie Saab. We shared stories about the inspiration behind his creations, his work process and his selection of shapes, colours and materials,” says Colombo.

We have combined our creativity, our skills, letting the collection develop naturally

“We have combined our creativity, our skills, letting the collection develop naturally. Everything happened in an extremely linear way, giving me the freedom to transform the brand codes into new works of art. The result is a collection with one unique quality: to be recognisable, to stand out from all the others and to be Elie Saab at first glance.”

The colour palette is certainly signature Saab: delicate creams, pastels and grey are set against the shiny finishes of metals, bronzes, marble and noble stones.

The collection is divided into “Day" and “Night", and covers all aspects of the home, from living to dining room, the bedroom, and lighting and accessories. The Day Collection is defined by its richness, with an initial four sofas, five chairs, armchairs and poufs, two dining tables, four side tables, two consoles and a storage unit. The Night Collection consists of three beds, a bedside table and “valet de nuit”, a system that integrates a series of mirrors and structures for storing objects. These collections are accompanied by a range of lights, rugs, cushions and accessories.
