Mario Kart 8
Nintendo
Wii U
Due: Spring 2014
The eighth edition of arguably the greatest multiplayer gaming franchise of all time was one of the stars of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June, showing just how to keep the freshness going in a franchise that has been knocking around since the early 1990s. The major addition this time is that the kart and bikes have been fitted with antigravity mechanisms, allowing for even more loop-the-loop mayhem, while the U’s controller gets rid of on-screen clutter by displaying opponent positioning. If ever there were a game to get you all racing to grab a Wii U (because, let’s face it, not many of us have done so yet), it’s going to be this.
