Oman: Sultan's wife meets orphans on Mother's Day

Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidiyah, wife of Oman's Sultan Haitham, marked Mother's Day on Sunday with a rare public visit, touring a centre for orphans in Al Sib governorate, the state news agency reported.

She was briefed on the centre's services and met with the children.

In one photo released by the Oman News Agency (ONA), Sayyida Al Busaidiyah is pictured smiling and hugging a child. In another picture, she receives flowers from one of the children.

Sayyida Al Busaidiyah is also pictured listening to explanations from centre officials accompanying her on the tour.

The ONA said the visit came took place "in the context of her interest and great keenness to ensure the welfare of this segment of society and to guarantee a decent and stable life for the children".
