ABU DHABI // The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority board of directors has appointed Saif Ghobash as the organisation’s director general.
Mr Ghobash was previously a strategic affairs director at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court and acting chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Media, which publishes The National.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in the US and an executive master’s in business administration from IMD business school in Switzerland.
Mr Ghobash was chosen because of the board’s confidence in his ability to “further drive performance in line with the vision and strategy of the authority”, a statement from TCA said.
The TCA runs a range of cultural and educational activities. It is also in charge of developing the Saadiyat Island cultural district and museums planned there, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
