DUBAI // Construction of the Dh500 million Museum of the Future is close after laws were issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on Saturday.

“Today we issued a law establishing the Dubai Foundation for the Museum of the Future, the first-stop research institution dedicated to science and the future of innovation and exploring the next generation of technology,” the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai tweeted.

“The Foundation will oversee the establishment of several research centres in addition to the Museum of the Future, which will attract researchers.

“The goal is to develop scientific and innovative solutions to address the developmental challenges of cities of the future, and contribute to stimulating innovation.”

Sheikh Mohammed named Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, as chairman of the museum’s board of trustees, state news agency Wam reported.

It will be built close to Emirates Towers near Sheikh Zayed Road and is due to open in 2017.
