The Nation Towers on the capital's Corniche will feature a St Regis Hotel, the developer of the towers has announced. The hotel is the second St Regis property planned for Abu Dhabi by Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The news comes as construction of the towers continues apace at the site near the Emirates Palace hotel. The announcement yesterday was made less than a week after Mubadala Development announced that Four Seasons would operate a hotel on Sowwah Island.
International Capital Trading, the developer of the Nation Towers, said the hotel would include 281 guest rooms in the top half of one of the two towers, which will be connected by a sky bridge that houses a restaurant. The other St Regis hotel is to be on Saadiyat Island. "The announcement of our second St Regis in Abu Dhabi is another sign of Starwood's commitment to developing its brands in the key destinations of the Middle East, where customised service is an integral part of the culture of hospitality," said Roeland Vos, the president of Starwood in Europe, Africa and Middle East. "We are honoured to build on our existing relationships in Abu Dhabi, and we are confident that this project will be another prestigious addition to our portfolios of luxury hotels."
