ABU DHABI // A festival featuring an African acrobatics show began at Al Hili Fun City in Al Ain on Monday.
The event, organised by Al Ain Municipality, is open to visitors until March 15.
The open-air shows, which reflect African heritage and culture, will take place each day, and are being performed by a leading company that specialises in acrobatics. Matinee performances are also on show for students, with a second performance taking place in the evening for the general public.
The festival, like previous events and others planned, showcases Al Ain’s cultural and tourist landmarks, said Hanae Mohammed Saleh of the municpality.
African heritage is rich in time-honoured storytelling, myths and habits, and the shows are inspired by this legacy. Along with the carnival atmosphere of Al Hili Fun City, they are expected to attract and intrigue visitors, she said.
The event features African dances, traditional folklore songs, carnivals and acrobatics, as well as an exhibition of African cultural products.
