The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority is organising a series of Iftars in six cities across the Arabian Gulf during Ramadan.

The outreach efforts coincide with the recently launched Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2015.

Beginning on June 21 June, Iftar banquets will be held successively in Jeddah, Riyadh and Al Khobar in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, followed by Kuwait City, Doha and Muscat.

“Our exciting Abu Dhabi Summer Season programme promises our Gulf visitors family entertainment in a traditional atmosphere, and the overlap of the Holy Month of Ramadan with our Summer Season offers makes Abu Dhabi even more special,” said Sultan Al Mansoori, Saudi Arabia country manager with the TCA.

The tourism authority expects the three-month Abu Dhabi Summer Season to attract a growing number of GCC tourists through Ramadan-inspired activities, along with interactive entertainment activities being held in the capital Al Ain, and the Western Region.

A series of live shows begin on July 18 with an Eid celebration in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, followed by performances for children and adults.

The first four months of the year has seen Saudi Arabia continue to be Abu Dhabi’s largest GCC tourism market with 46,576 visitors — an increase of 46% over last year, followed by Oman with 21,342.

The Ramadan tour has the potential to reinforce relations between GCC countries, particularly in the areas of business and conventions, added Mubarak Al Shamisi, Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau Director.

“Abu Dhabi offers a favourable atmosphere and unique advantages to organise specialised conferences and exhibitions, illustrated by the Bureau’s wide range of free consultation and advisory services.

Over 24 international conferences and business meetings were held in Abu Dhabi in 2014, with some events hosting in excess of 5,000 delegates, the TCA reported.
