Aerospace and engineering services at Mubadala and Airbus Middle East held a workshop aimed at producing the next generation of scientists and engineers.
The three-day aeronautic engineering workshop was held last Tuesday at Al Ittihad National Private School in Abu Dhabi and was designed by The Little Engineer to promote science and technology among young people in the UAE.
“We work with partners and educational organisations on the design and implementation of initiatives that attract youth to the exciting careers available to them in the UAE,” said Amal Al Jabri, senior associate at Mubadala.
The interactive programme played host to more than 75 students aged 13-14 and featured four-hour modules introducing students to the Airbus A-380 assembly.
Emphasising the importance of robotics in the aerospace industry, the workshops focused on the identification of aircraft parts, the assembly process and transportation procedures.
“At Mubadala, we are committed to developing talent and creating a skilled workforce to support in the development, growth and sustainability of the industries we invest and operate in,” Ms Al Jabri said.
Students were assigned to work in groups to encourage team-building and coordinated problem-solving.
Instructors said that by channelling pupils’ potential through the use of modern technology and innovative thinking, the workshop encouraged them to consider a career in the aerospace industry.
Fouad Attar, managing director at Airbus Middle East, said: “We’ve always believed that talent is a key contributor to the future of aviation. Our partnership with The Little Engineer is a direct reflection of our efforts to invest in the regional community.
“Together with Mubadala, we hope to continue inspiring the young local generation to pursue studies and careers in engineering and aviation.”
Fatima Murshed, principal of Al Ittihad National Private School, said: “We are proud to have taken part in this series, which has provided our students with a valuable experience; exposing them to one of fastest growing industries in our region. ”
The companies launched a robotic workshop series during the Global Aerospace Summit in April this year, which was attended by about 100 pupils in grades 5 and 6.
