Google will begin capturing street-level images of Sharjah’s roads, landmarks and neighbourhoods in partnership with the Sharjah Urban Planning Council.
Sharjah is the second Arab city after Dubai that will be available on the street view feature offering a 360-degree image of selected streets.
“This technology has been successfully implemented in leading cities and we welcome the additional convenience it will bring to residents and businesses in Sharjah to make it even easier to navigate the streets of the emirate,” said Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, chairman of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council in a statement.
“People outside Sharjah and prospective visitors can experience panoramic views of the emirate’s spectacular natural landscape and many landmarks.”
Launched in May 2007, the Street View feature is available in more than 3000 cities across 63 countries.
