DUBAI // A digital game that helps to develop a child’s mental skills by controlling a virtual falcon is one of three new apps developed by Emiratis.

Shaheen by Helal Al Yammahi, which allows the player to control the bird of prey as it hunts, was launched as part of twofour54's Creative Lab initiative.

Mr Al Yammahi applied for support through the Creative Lab website and worked with Cartoon Network Animation Academy graduates.

The other apps are Unexpected, designed by Ameen Al Hossani, which uses guessing games to inspire children’s imaginations, and Red Bugs, an iPad game based on the Emirati tradition of harvesting palm trees. It was designed by Farah Al Bastaki.

All three will be available to try at the Dubai World Trade Centre from today until Saturday. Visitors to twofour54’s stand in Zabeel Hall 1 will also be able to meet the developers.

Maryam Al Mheiri, the chief operating officer at twofour54, said: “All efforts of Creative Lab and the support provided by twofour54 have resulted in a number of successful projects reflecting the passion of the young UAE talent for creativity.

“I am delighted that these applications incorporate and promote Emirati heritage in a unique and modern way.”

The games are available for free download on Google Play and iTunes in English and Arabic.
