Telecom operator du is warning its customers of fraudulent calls by individuals claiming to represent the company.
The company said its subscribers are being offered cash and prizes in exchange for personal information.
“These calls aren’t genuine. du will never ask you for your bank account details, recharge codes, etc.,” the company wrote in a text message to subscribers.
The telecom company urges its customers not to share any personal information with anyone.
“If you receive a suspicious call, we advise you to simply hang up.”
On it’s website, du said it had been notified of potential fraudulent activity from several customers, who were promised money in exchange for personal information.
Anyone who has received a suspicious phone call and is unsure of its authenticity is urged to call du customer service on 155 or 04 390 5555, or email abuse@du.ae.
