DUBAI // A secure data centre for government departments has been announced in order to protect key information in event of a cyber attack.

The shared disaster recovery site is a secure data environment for 28 local government entities.

It is the result of a partnership by Dubai Smart Government and Etisalat.

Ahmad bin Humaidan, director general of Dubai Smart Government, said the site was effectively a back up, “ensuring that IT services and infrastructure are capable of recovering from failures resulting from errors, planned attacks or disasters”.

Saleh Al Abdouli, Etisalat chief executive, said the operator has set up several secure data centre for public and private sectors.
