Mubadala subsidiary TS&S Aerospace secures contract with SriLankan Airlines

A Mubadala unit has secured a contract from SriLankan Airlines to service the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine.

TS&S Aerospace becomes the first independent aviation provider to overhaul a Trent 700 engine, the company said in a statement carried by the WAM news agency.

The contract represents a “milestone” for the company said Abdul Khaliq Saeed, TS&S Aerospace’s chief executive.

TS&S works in partnership with major engine manufacturers, which include Rolls-Royce, GE Aviation and International Aero Engines.

Mubadala, a strategic investment company owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi has a global network of aerospace businesses with a focus on maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers.

Among its assets is the Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park, which spans 25 square kilometres and aims to become an aerospace manufacturing cluster.

SriLankan Airlines has a fleet of 21 Airbus aircraft – 13 of them are A330’s for long-haul routes.
