Emirates starts second daily flight to Boston

Emirates today started its second daily flight to Boston in the United States.

Both of the Dubai carrier’s Boston flights are operated by a Boeing 777-300ER with 304 economy seats, 42 in business class and eight private suites in first class.

“The additional service to Boston not only doubles our capacity to meet demand, but will also provide passengers with the option to fly to new destinations out of Boston Logan International Airport,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates divisional senior vice president, commercial operations, West.

It’s not only passengers that Emirates transports from Boston.

It said in a statement that lobsters account for 55 per cent of the value of Emirates’ cargo exports out of Boston.

“Approximately 135 tonnes of lobsters are exported from Boston each month, roughly 223,917 lobsters, and these are primarily delivered to Dubai, Shanghai, Guangdong, Bangkok, and Taiwan,” it said. “Seafood, mainly lobsters, in addition to electronic equipment for industrial use is the fastest growing component of Emirates’ business in Boston.”

The airline currently serves 10 US gateways – Orlando (MCO), Chicago (ORD), Boston (BOS), San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle (SEA), Dallas (DFW), Houston (IAH), Washington (IAD) and New York (JFK), as well as operating a trans-Atlantic route between JFK and Milan and a freighter service to Atlanta.
