Emirates is to launch its sixth destination in Pakistan with flights to Multan starting from August 1. It will also add five additional weekly flights to Karachi from July 1.
“The additional services to Karachi and the introduction of Multan to our network will position Pakistan as Emirates’ fourth most highly served country worldwide with 80 return flights a week operating between Dubai and Pakistan,” said Ahmed Khoory, senior vice president commercial operations West Asia and Indian Ocean.
The Dubai carrier will fly to Multan four times a week with a Boeing 777-300. The city is Pakistan’s fifth largest by population.
Karachi was the airline’s first route to Pakistan in 1985, followed by Peshawar in 1998, Lahore and Islamabad in 1999, and most recently Sialkot in 2013.
Last month Emirates said it would start a daily service to the Italian city of Bologna from November 3.
