Big fridge instead of bulky commitment

My fridge resembles something out of a cliché Hollywood film about a scruffy bachelor who cannot cook, clean or fend for himself.

It is empty but for a few mouldering chillies, a tub of spreadable butter and some bottled water.

I cannot even be bothered to get one of those water coolers that saves both time and money in the long term.

In keeping with the Hollywood stereotype, I guess I am not a long-term-commitment kind of guy.

That is, until someone comes into my life, at least in our film, and sweeps me off my feet.

This fun-loving female would also sweep my apartment, fill my fridge with healthy goodies and teach me the worth of companionship, organising my life and committing to something for the long term.

There would probably be some teething problems, fights and spats, but eventually the main protagonist would become a better person for the whole experience.

The audience would feel better for watching the transformation to committed, cuddly couple, and the Hollywood producers would make a killing.

But unfortunately for all, I am going to dash our hopes for that next big romantic comedy because I am going to be swept off my feet by something, not someone.

And that, my friends, is the world's largest side-by-side domestic refrigerator - the Samsung Polaris RS30. Admittedly, it does not have that carefree Cameron Diaz attitude to life, but it is the world's biggest household refrigerator and it is now on sale in the Emirates.

This behemoth uses something called "Space Max technology", which means the sides of the fridge are thinner and there is more space inside for milk, vegetables and whatever else normal people put in a fridge. In total, the fridge has 840 litres of storage space and uses 40 per cent less energy than a normal fridge, so it sounds like a well-meaning partner your mother would like to meet.

Robin Kadyan, the general manager of the Home Appliances Sales Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics, explains the advantages. "Consumers do not have to compromise on space versus performance any more," he says.

No compromising for me. Moreover, the Polaris has a water and ice dispenser, so what more could a bachelor need?
