Emirates launches pooled family Skywards scheme

Individual family members can consolidate their air miles under revised policy

Emirates, the world's biggest long haul airline, said on Wednesday it has relaunched its family rewards scheme to enable family members to pool the air miles they have earned on their flights.

The ‘My Family’ scheme will enable families to redeem rewards from Emirates Skywards frequent flyer programme faster than before, the carrier said in a statement.

“The new enriched ‘My Family’ programme will provide our members with a better, more intuitive customer experience, allowing them to consolidate up to 100 per cent of Skywards Miles earned on Emirates to reap faster rewards as well as tailor the proposition to meet their travel needs,” said Nejib Khedher, senior vice-president of Emirates Skywards.

Each family account can have up to eight family members including a nominated ‘family head’, the airline said. Each member can pool up to 100 per cent of their miles earned on Emirate flights and the nominated contribution of miles from each member can be adjusted any time.

Emirates Skywards has a global membership of 20 million customers, the carrier added, and all members are eligible to join the ‘My Family’ scheme.

Emirates said the refreshed policy is part of the “continued evolution of the Emirates Skywards programme” to introduce more features and give members greater opportunity to earn air miles and access rewards across the carrier’s flights, travel and lifestyle partners.

In the last month, Emirates Skywards introduced discounted rates for buying, gifting and transferring Skywards Miles, to give members increased flexibility.

The new programme also complements Emirates’ in-air and on-the-ground family offerings, including dedicated family check-in area, complimentary strollers in Dubai and priority boarding for families across all airports.
