Tom Healy, the chief executive of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), announced today he would step down from his role in the coming months. "I'm retiring," he said in an interview. "I am turning 60 later this month and it's time to go home." Mr Healy, who oversaw a rebranding of the ADX and planned introduction of new investments such as exchange-traded funds, came to Abu Dhabi in 2007 after serving as the chief executive of the Irish Stock Exchange for 20 years. He was also a consultant to the World Bank, the European Union and the United States Agency for International Development, and has been actively involved with the World Federation of Exchanges and the Federation of European Securities Exchanges.

Mr Healy said he would spend the next several months helping to ease the transition to a successor. The ADX has not announced a replacement. bhope@thenational.ae
