It may well be the secret desire of many a construction crew to possess superhuman strength to assist them in their daily chores. However, a face-off between Bumblebee and Megatron, smack bang in the middle of their day, in the middle of their turf, came as an unexpected surprise.
Or shock, judging by the looks the two Transformers elicited from the builders at BurJuman mall in Dubai on Monday morning. One minute the men were soldering along nicely, the next there descended upon them these hulking towers of miracle metal and whizzing cogs – the endearing Autobot Bumblebee trying to lend a hand of steel to the building project, while the evil Decepticon Megatron intent on attacking his nemesis.
It’s not known whether the robotic duo ended up helping or hampering the process, but the men sure went back home with a fantastical day welded firmly to memory.
• Visitors to BurJuman, Dubai, can catch the Transformers until August 9 with three shows at 6pm, 7.30pm and 8.50pm daily, with meet and greet opportunities after each show, as part of the mall’s Dubai Summer Surprises event, created in collaboration with Invent Creative & Event Solutions and under licence from Hasbro, Inc.

Rameez Shahzad Played alongside Ben Stokes and Liam Plunkett in Durham while he was studying there. He also played club cricket as an overseas professional, but his time in the UK stunted his UAE career. The batsman went a decade without playing for the national team.

Prize scams: Fraudsters claiming to be authorised representatives from well-known organisations (such as Etisalat, du, Dubai Shopping Festival, Expo2020, Lulu Hypermarket etc) contact victims to tell them they have won a cash prize and request them to share confidential banking details to transfer the prize money.
