OSN Festival will broadcast this year's 87th Academy Awards live on February 23. Red-carpet duties will be handled earlier in the evening on E! Live, also available on the OSN network. In the run-up to the awards, OSN Festival promises a selection of previous winners and this year's nominees, including Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, Gone Girl and Foxcatcher, which will be available on the OSN Box Office pay channel. – The National staff

Williams’s wife and kids fight over estate

Robin Williams’s children and wife have gone to court in a fight over the late comedian’s estate. In papers filed in December in San Francisco Superior Court, Williams’s wife, Susan, says some of the actor’s personal items were taken without her permission and asks the court to exclude the contents of the Tiburon home that she shared with Williams from the jewellery, memorabilia and other items he said the children should have. The children, Zachary, Zelda and Cody, counter that Susan is “adding insult to a terrible injury” by trying to change the trust agreement and rob them of the actor’s clothing and other personal items. “The Williams’s children are heartbroken that Petitioner, Mr Williams’s wife of less than three years, has acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made,” attorneys for the children said in court papers. Williams died at his Tiburon home in August; his death was ruled a suicide from asphyxia caused by hanging. – AP

Bobbi Kristina is struggling for her life

Bobbi Kristina Brown is fighting for her life, according to a statement from the Houston family. Police said the 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown was taken to a hospital on Saturday after she was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub. The statement said that Brown is surrounded by immediate family who are requesting privacy. “We are asking you to honor our request for privacy during this difficult time,” the statement read. “Thank you for your prayers, well wishes, and we greatly appreciate your continued support.” Houston was found dead in a bathtub in 2012. – AP

Arjun Rampal quizzed by ­Mumbai police

Arjun Rampal was called for questioning by Mumbai police for having met jailed gangster Arun Gawli without court permission, NDTV reported. The 42-year-old actor has not yet been charged with an offence. Rampal is said to have visited Gawli in Mumbai's J J Hospital in December while preparing for a role in his forthcoming film Daddy, which is based on Gawli's life. Gawli has been in prison since 2009. In 2012, he was convicted in a murder case and handed a life sentence. Rampal will next be seen in the film Roy, out on February 12. – The National staff

Rap mogul faces murder charge

Marion "Suge" Knight was charged on Monday with murder and attempted murder over a hit-and-run that left one man dead and another in the hospital last week. The 49-year-old rapper could face life in prison if convicted. Knight also faces two hit-and-run charges, while his US$2 million (Dh7.3m) bail was revoked because he was deemed a flight risk, could intimidate witnesses and has a criminal past, officials said. Witnesses told the LA County Sheriff's department that Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, first argued with the men, then allegedly used a pickup truck to strike them – backing into one, then running over both. Knight co-founded Death Row with Dr Dre in the early 1990s. The label launched stars such as Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur, but collapsed in 1996 when Knight was jailed for violating a 1992 probation order by beating up a rival in Las Vegas. He also served a 10-month jail stint in 2003 after getting into a fight outside a Hollywood nightclub. Last year, he was shot six times at a music awards party. – AFP
